In this past weekend's Wall Street Journal, Mary Anastasia O'Grady interviews US trade representative Rob Portman:
Mr. Portman is a cautious optimist on Hong Kong. "The reason I took this job is because I thought this would be an historic time in trade. There is an opportunity to either continue down this more protectionist track or try to change the dynamic, and to get some good agreements passed and show that there can be a bipartisan consensus again." Then, with a self-deprecating chuckle, he says again: "It is an historic time."
